Rescheduled – Community Conversations Series – Closer To Home

Understanding Our Community. Where can we make a difference?

Join Calgary Chinook Kiwanis for the next conversation in our Community Conversations series as we welcome a guest speaker from Closer to Home Calgary.

Closer to Home works alongside children, youth and families in Calgary to help build stronger, healthier communities. This is an opportunity to learn more about the challenges facing local families, the supports that are available, and where important gaps may still exist.

As service-minded community members, we want to better understand the needs in our own backyard—and explore where our time, talents and resources could make a meaningful difference.

Come listen, learn and join the conversation!

Backpack and School Supplies Program

Thank you to all of our sponsors of this program.

Kiwanis Foundation of Canada – Street Out Reach Grant, Kiwanis International Children’s Fund Mini Grant, CIBC Wood Gundy employees and the Calgary Police Youth Foundation.

These sponsors helped us to over triple our impact to do a backpack and school supply drive. In past years we have been able to donate approximately 80 backpacks full of school supplies to children through our partnering agencies. This year we donated 285 backpacks plus extra school supplies for approximately 40 other children.

We also would like to thank those that came out and helped us stuff the backbacks and then came out to help us donate the backpacks.

Thank You For Supporting Our Apple Fundraiser

This year we sold 118 boxes of delicious Davison Orchards Apples. With your support we raised over $1200 for our Youth Recognition Programs.
