First off Chinook Kiwanis proudly presented the Kiwanis Robert Thirsk High School Bursaries to two outstanding students at the school’s Academic Awards evening. These bursaries honor academic excellence, community involvement, leadership, and citizenship. We’re thrilled to support and inspire our future compassionate leaders!

Celebrating T.N and M.A.’s amazing journies at Robert Thirsk High School!

T.N. – As a Vice President of the Key Club and leader of the graduation committee, T.N. organized charity events and fostered a spirit of service among her peers. T.N volunteered her time to prepare meals for families in need with Made by Momma and made the holidays special for kids in need with the Holiday Toy Project. Her dedication to helping others truly makes her a community champion. Now, as she heads to SAIT, she’s excited to turn her passion for baking into a career in culinary arts!

M.A. – With strong leadership and compassion, M.A. has greatly impacted Robert Thirsk High School as a Vice President of the Key Club. She helped with organizing community service initiatives like the Veteran’s Food Bank drive and volunteering with Made by Momma. As she begins her Biomedical Engineering journey at Mount Royal University, her contributions are appreciated, and her future is eagerly anticipated!

The following scholarships were presented with the help & support of the Kiwanis Foundation of Canada. The Kiwanis Club of Calgary Chinook congratulates our 3 matching bursary recipients for 2024!

R.A. – Chinook Kiwanis is honored to celebrate R.A. as a recipient of the Kiwanis Foundation of Canada Matching Bursary. Their tireless dedication to service is evident through their extensive volunteer work with the Marlborough Reads program, the Adapted Fitness program, and their vocal advocacy on critical social issues like LGBTQA2S+ rights  and anti-racisms advocacy efforts.
R.A. embodies the spirit of the Kiwanis Foundation of Canada’s values, making them an exemplary choice for this bursary. We eagerly anticipate their future contributions and the positive change they will continue to bring to their community.

S.C. – Meet Kiwanis Foundation of Canada Matching Bursary recipient S.C. She is an inspiring volunteer who is currently studying in the Legal Assistant program at SAIT. S.C.’s journey as a volunteer began in 2017 with the Calgary Public Library’s Reading Buddies and Coding Buddies programs. And in addition to her role with the library, S.C. is also a volunteer English Conversation Partner at SAIT, helping ESL students improve their language skills. This experience has expanded her understanding of cultural diversity and strengthened her social skills. Sophie’s dedication to her community is evident and she is always eager to learn new strategies to better serve those around her.
We are proud to support S.C. on her path to success!

L.M. – Kiwanis Foundation of Canada Matching Bursary recipient L.M. is a dedicated volunteer. She has put in countless hours coaching Special Olympics swimming and working at the Calgary Food Bank. Volunteering makes her feel good knowing that she is helping others in her community. The more she volunteers, the more she wants to continue to help others. Her path to success is through Bow Valley College’s Early Childhood Education and Development Program. We wish her every success as she continues on her path!
